Tara Richards BSc DVM DACVO PhD

Dr. Tara Richards completed her veterinary degree, PhD and ophthalmology residency at the Ontario Veterinary College University of Guelph. She is a board certified member of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (2010) and holds membership in the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium (IEOC) and the Canadian Veterinary Ophthalmology Society. In addition to her clinical practice, she is an adjunct professor at the Atlantic Veterinary College (PEI). Dr. Richards enjoys teaching students and those who are students at heart.

One of the perks of being a veterinary ophthalmologist is the variety in caseload! As an ophthalmologist, Dr. Richards gets to examine and help animals of all shapes and sizes with their ophthalmic disease. She finds the comparative anatomy fascinating and enjoys meeting each of her unique patients.

Dr. Richards founded Eye Know Ophtho in 2019 to provide both equine patients and companion animals with compassionate, experienced and skilled ophthalmic care.

When not practicing veterinary ophthalmology, she spends her time with her family exploring the Canadian wilderness, reading and riding her reining horse, Dallas.
